About

Jigging

In Japan, while most anglers primarily use bait for fishing, jigging, fishing with lures, is becoming increasingly popular. Our service specializes in offshore vertical jigging, where we drop a metal lure to the ocean floor and perform a jerking action from the bottom up, mimicking the movement of a real fish to attract target species.

Slow jigging is a popular offshore technique effective for various fish species, including rockfish, grouper, sea bream, snapper, and codfish, among others. You can adjust technique based on the target fish, ocean currents or other conditions.

Typical slow jigging setup. Rod characteristic, jig, hook setup and line interaction need to be balanced and adjusted to conditions like water depth, current and target fish.

High-pitch jigging is an intense physical technique and was invented to chase predators such as Amberjack, Kingfish or Tuna.

A typical high-pitch setup with PE-4 line and a jig with single hook.

Casting with jigs or poppers is a technique to tackle topwater predator fishes, such as Giant Trevally (GT), Kingfish or Tuna.

About

Me

My name is Detlev Reiners. I was born in northern Germany and, after completing military service, earned a Master's degree in Electronics Engineering. I have spent over 30 years working in sales within the automotive industry. My career has taken me to Japan frequently, where I began learning Japanese. This journey introduced me to great friends who ignited my passion for jigging, particularly vertical jigging, from light to deep sea, in pursuit of delicious fish. In addition to jigging, I have a strong passion for cooking and preparing fish dishes, well as enjoying meals at Izakaya prepared by professional chefs. While my native language is German, I am also fluent in, Japanese, and Italian. I would love to take you on a boat and share the incredible Japan Jigging Experience with you.
